Perforated Plate in Multimedia Filter

Perforated Plate in Multimedia Filter

(OP)
Hai all,

We have a multimedia filter with internal pressure of 5 Bar. There is a perforated plate at the bottom of the filter with a 20mm thickness.
I have used Roarks and Young formula for stress and strain to come up with the plate thickness.
However I am not fully confident. The formula only takes into account the internal pressure across the plate and not the load of the sediments that will be sitting on the plate.
Am I approaching this the right way? I am planning to run a FEA analysis in the coming future but just want to make sure I am going the right way.

Would definitely appreciate a feedback on this.

Regards
