Linear Generator

Linear Generator

(OP)
I am interested in designing a linear generator (miniature generator)of about 200 W, I would be really thankful if anyone could guide me with selecting the necessary permanent magnets and the coil, in order to achieve this. I have thought of a Halbach array magnet arrangement but I do have issues with selecting the type and gauge of the coil, whether it should be a square or a round cross section?

RE: Linear Generator

How many do you have to make?

Life and health important, or is this for a toy purpose where it doesn't matter of it breaks?
How many in a production run?
So, do you need to generate 200 watts continuously, or just to store and charge up a battery like a hand-held generator flashlight?
Manually made, or machine-built?
If not a hand-held unit (reallllly hard to get that much power out), what is the driver and how long is the intended oscillation length of the magnet through the bar?

RE: Linear Generator

There are a bunch of designs out there, that were intended to be driven by sterling engines.
