Hey guys... seems simple enough to me... but which one of the following situations should have more flow.

The main header is 700kPa water. would the (A) 2" hose or the combined (B) 2 x 3/4" hoses have more flow

A) 8" Header... reduced to 6"pipe..... with a 1" tap which has a 2" hose connected

B) 8" Header.... which is tee'd to a 3/4" hose and a 1" pipe further reduced to a 3/4" hose

a 2 inch hose will have far more flow than two 3/4 inch hoses, but you will need to check minor losses.

Even thought the 2" hose is prior reduced to a 1"... it should still have a higher flow than the 2 x hoses?

A 1" restriction will flow more than a 3/4" restriction, so yeah, the 2" hose.

Only the frictional loss equations for relatively long pipe (much longer than fittings) have length as a parameter. Minor losses are based on pressure loss driving the accelaration and change of momentum necessary when velocity changes and mass must be accelerated correspondingly through through different diameters.

the equation is in the link I posted. you may need to estimate K for your fittings. use cranes paper
