Time history analysis

Time history analysis

Time history analysis

(OP)
Hy.
I run a modal time history analysis of a planar frame loaded with time varying forces asigned at all floor levels.
I need your help to plot the base shear values or top lateral displacements for all mode shapes separately and not the maximum values that SAP200 computes (using combination of modal responses).
SAP allows the user to select a range of modes shapes in the "Show Tables/Output Options" window but it doesn`t work. It shows the maximum value.
Thank you.

RE: Time history analysis

Did you try envelop load case/step by step option rather than max values?
If that cannot work, then export the results to Matlab and easily do it there.

Thanks for your response.
I am not a good Matlab user but I wonder how Matlab can perform a modal analysis if it doesn,t know anything about the structure, flexibility matrix, mass matrix, eigen values and other?

RE: Time history analysis

you just need to know plot your desired values. So only export data required for plotting!
