Solidworks export problem

Solidworks export problem

Solidworks export problem

(OP)
Hi all!

I am having a trouble while exporting solidworks assembly to parasolid file(.x_t file). One of the part in the assembly contains multiple solid bodies. But after saving as parasolid file these solid bodies are merged and converted to single solid body. I want to keep these solid bodies in the part separate. Can anyone help me how to do it ?

Thanks!

RE: Solidworks export problem

Probably not merging until they are imported again.

Okay thanks TheTick. I am kind of new to solidworks. Here is the procedure I follow

1. I get design assembly from customer in parasolid format (.x_t). Assembly has several parts with some parts having multiple solid bodies.
2. I open the file in solidworks and save it as assembly.
3. I modify/revise the design.
4. I save as the file in parasolid format.

When I reopen this revised parasolid file in solidworks, solids in the part are merged into one. Can anyone clarify which step I am doing it wrong ?

Thanks!

RE: Solidworks export problem

I'm curious why you save back to a parasolid? Why not continue with parts and assembly?
You only need to save back to parasolid if you are sending a copy back to your customer.
