Hello
I have storage tank made from SA516 gr 60 material. Tank covered by API 650. Please look at my inerpretation of impact testing energy value. It is important for me.

API 650 twelfth ed. 2013
SA516-60 in table 4.4b -> material group III or IIIA
Table 4.5a -> min value 20J

Thanks in advance for any help

RE: SA516-60 imtact testing acc to API650

What is the minimum impact test temperature for 20J?

minus 25 deg Celsius

RE: SA516-60 imtact testing acc to API650

If the SA 516 Gr 60 plate was supplied in a normalized condition, I don't see a problem.

RE: SA516-60 imtact testing acc to API650

What exactly is the question: is it 'am I reading the standard correctly?'

The minimum individual requirement for one longitudinal test piece of the three only is 13 J. 20 J is the minimum average value where at least two of the three longitudinal test pieces achieve this value.

Not at all onerous for a reasonably average heat of normalised A516.
