SAP beam designer dosen't account for axial tension/compression forces ?

SAP beam designer dosen't account for axial tension/compression forces ?

SAP beam designer dosen't account for axial tension/compression forces ?

(OP)
Hi guys,
I have noticed that for a beam type frame element, SAP doesn't design for axial tension/compression forces in beams (M3 only) .. which is a bit weird since due to temperature and seismic loads, axial tension/compression forces in beams occurs and beams should be designed accordingly. However for a column type frame element the design count for axial forces (P, M2, M3).
Am I missing something ? Or this is true ?
What can we do in such case and how can we count for axial forces in beams using SAP ?
Thanks.

RE: SAP beam designer dosen't account for axial tension/compression forces ?

Hi
Sap or etabs design the beam for bending moment shear and torsion. Tension reinforcement if any should be added to your steel section manually. A.column is designed for PMM curvature but not the beam.
