Edge Blend Update
Edge Blend Update
(OP)
I would request Mr.John Baker to answer this question, since I haven´t received any replies in the same post posted previously. Following is the post as below:
Me and my colleague are working on powertrain components for Mercedes Benz since we are the supplier . We have designed a bumper model in NX which has a lot of edge blends. Based on FEM results it needs to be modified bascially we Need to re-postion some ribs again. The Moment it is re-positioned comes the error edge blend. It's pretty clear that nearby edges needs to be modified since some edges are missing but apparently in this case we need to modify all the edge blends because while designing tangent curves was taken into account. There are some 1500 edge blends which we Need to modify step by step. There should be definitely some tips or tricks to work on edge blend with NX because every single edge blend modification consumes a lot of time. Thanks in advance for your comments and Feedback.
Greetings from Germany!

RE: Edge Blend Update
This might be a question which is solved better by the German support organisation, where you can work on the real model, rather than this open forum.

Working now on sealing systems, moulding etc. in NX it's disaster!!!. I have model with 3000 steps and after update, need to spend hole day to fix all fillets and missing features...
Compare all time to Catia, Nx is faster but it is not parametric system...

RE: Edge Blend Update
Did you use the selection intent rules when you applied the blends or did you use "single curve" as selection method ?
- This is the reason why the selection intent was implemented.
I have supported NX for quite a few years and this sounds as if there was some poor methods built into this model, rather than NX being "non parametric".

RE: Edge Blend Update
There are going to be times when you adjust adjacent geometry and an Edge Blend fails to completely update - NO MATTER WHAT CAD SOFTWARE YOU USE. Just because an Edge Blend doesn't update does NOT mean a model isn't parametric - that's absurd. The features and parameters DO NOT disappear (check your list of Expressions if you doubt me) and the model doesn't revert into a dumb solid. The supporting geometry has been changed to the point that the blend requires the user to redefine the blend, simple as that.
I have no idea what "time steps" are, but if that's the number of Edge Blend features you have in a model, I'd be looking into a new modeling workflow.
Is the bumper symmetric at any point? If so, did you bother to Mirror it to possibly halve your work or at least significantly reduce it?

remove the ribs that need to be moved and remake them.
