Hi everyone.....,

I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if I break any forum rules..:)

I have 2 tanks. One at high level(8mtrs from ground) and other at the ground level. I need to deliver 14 m3/hr water to the tank at the ground level from the one at high level. Some good sales guy sold a pump to the client for the purpose (with 15m head and 14m3/hr flow)

My doubt is what will happen if I put this pump...?

Is the height difference between the tanks is enough for the water to flow to the lower tank...?

If so will I get 14 m3/hr in the second tank if I put water at 14m3/hr in the higher tank....?

RE: Hi everyone....., I'm new to t

why not pump at 14m3/hr straight into the lower tank?

I don't have an answer to your question. But, I do have some suggestions for posting on this site. We tend to be a picky bunch here. Please use the subject line to provide a clear idea what you are asking about. Subjects such as "Need Help!!!!" are not a good choice. For your question, I might suggest something like “Pumping Down Hill.” Second, the more information you can provide, the better responses you are likely to get. Generally, we don't like to feel like we are being asked to do your job for you. So, if you provide good details that demonstrate that you have already analyzed the problem and done the research, you will tend to get better responses. Drawings, diagrams and pictures are always welcome to help us understand the problem. Third, I would suggest that you use complete sentences with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. If you want us to spend our time addressing your problem, you should be prepared to spend the time to type a proper request.

Other than that, welcome to the site. I hope you find it useful. If I have some time later today, I will consider your question to see if I can offer any help. What type of pump was proposed? Are the tanks close together or far apart? What is the configuration of the piping system? Will the flow be controlled with a level or flow control valve?

Thanks for the feedback JJPellin.

The proposed pumps are centrifugal end suction pumps, The tanks are 8mtr apart in height and 15 mtr apart in length. As of now there are no flow regulating valve, but if I use the pump then I will put a flow regulating valve in the pump discharge.

Bruno,

Your post is really about s system design and not a pump.

However your OP and even the second one above don't give us any real information.

E.g. The real information on the tanks isn't their height, but what are the water levels inside them relative to each other.

The second is how long is the interconnecting pipe -now we know it's 15m away, but that would have been good information at the start.

So, if you actually have head difference from your start tank to your end tank, then yes, it will flow without a pump. How much depends on the friction losses in your pipe. Could be a lot more than 14 m3/hr.

A diagram would be most useful

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

It looks like a simple exercise in gravity flow, but as pointed out by LittleInch more detail is needed. So please humour us with more information.
