Snap-Fit design Help
Snap-Fit design Help
(OP)
Hi to all,
Im working on a snap-fit for an assembly, but im not sure what im doing as this is my first attempt at snap design.
Ive read some literature and what i understood is that the permissible strain of the material is what im looking for, ive done the calculation based on the snap geometry and got that the permissible strain i need from the material is about 11%.
Now that i have the permissible strain, how do i procced?
And how can i calculate the retaining force of the snap?

RE: Snap-Fit design Help
You are bending something. Bending takes force, and it causes stress. You should be able to work this out. Be careful though. A lot of bending analysis is based on small displacements. 11% strain is not a small displacement.
