Part Configs. Driving Ass'y Configs Driving Part Configs.
(OP)
I have a part, a cylindrical case, with 5 sizes (diameters) as different configurations. I want to design a lid for these cases with configurations which fit each of the case configurations.
Can I do it this way: Put the case into an assembly, use a design table to make an assembly configuration for each case configuration, then design the lid in-context on the case and have lid configurations generated? I hope to end up with 2 parts, each with 5 configurations.
I know that I'm probably headed for trouble with circular external references. Is there any other way to have multiple configurations of parts that are designed in-context so they update automatically?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

RE: Part Configs. Driving Ass'y Configs Driving Part Configs.
If you want 5 configs you are going to have to make 5 configs for each one. If you want them to change and update accordingly you can write the DT to when you change your config at the Assembly the parts change to that config. (They can not be incontexted when doing it this way, circular references) With only 2 parts and 5 configs, this is the way I do it.
