Assembly cut

Assembly cut

Assembly cut

(OP)
Hello,

Is it posible to cut weld beads in an assembly cut? What I want to do is créate a welded assembly and then add some cutouts because that assembly is going to be machined after welded. Some milimiters of the welding bead is going to be removed.

I also would like to know if I can make holes with hole to several components in the assembly environment. I mean holes with hole command (selecting counterbore, cone tip, thread...)

Thank you.

RE: Assembly cut

Hello, Javiduc!

It is possible to execute the boolean operations between target and any tool bodies, so i assume that you can cut weld beads using it.
You also could make a holes in assembly with Assembly Cut or Hole Series, but i rather recommend you to pay an attention to the Promote Body feature, it works slightly different than Assembly Cut, but provides more flexible results.

Hello Lockdain,

I have tried to use extrude comand to substract a volumen from some promoted bodies and some weld beads, but I can only select one body at a time. Maybe is a very simple way to select several bodies but I don't know it (still learning). So I tried assembly cut but it doesn't allow me to select the weld beads.

I can't find "hole series" comand, just "hole" comand. Where is it?

Thank you

RE: Assembly cut

Hole Series is a subtype of the Hole feature, so you have to select Hole feature and choos e Hole Series from the drop-down menu.
I think it would be great if you're able to provide us with some basic example of your issue, so we can offer a better solution (perhaps).

I have created this assembly with some parts and some Weld beads. I want to make a circular cutout centered in each hole with a diameter some milimiters bigger thant external diameter of Weld beads and 3 mm Deep from top Surface.

Thank you for the explanation of hole series, I think it can't help me for this pourpose but it can be useful in future.
