Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

(OP)
Hello all,

I have a problem I am trying to work around. I am customizing a DME_INTERCHANGABLE mold base to increase productivity. Currently I have options set to suppress and unsuppress plates within an assembly.

The Z position of the plates are driven by constraints, which are under the top level of this particular assembly. When I suppress a plate, the driving constraint for that plate now has a info alert that reads "referenced objects are deleted or suppressed".

The driving constraints for the other plates update, and they position correctly to eliminate the void of the suppressed plate.

I want to know if there is any way to suppress or control the constraint that drives the position of the suppressed plate automatically. With expressions possibly?

The closest I have gotten to being able suppress and unsuppress the constraint is through assembly arrangements. However, those have to also be set manually, and I cannot find an expression that will control assembly arrangements.

I know I can manually suppress and unsuppress the constraint, but I want to figure out a way to suppress the constraint automatically as the expression for the support plate suppression is switched on and off. I am running nx 8.5

Thanks,
Rob

RE: Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

you need to suppress that constraint using Arrangement specific command. Right click the constraint and Select "Arrangement Specific"

I have gotten that far, that is how I made the separate arrangements above, The "no support plate" has the constraint suppressed, and the default has it unsuppressed. My question is how to I activate the "no support plate" arrangement through expressions? So when I suppress the plate with an expression, the assembly arrangement with change with it.

RE: Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

I think there is no such option available in UG till now. or I am not aware of such thing can be possible, coz I have just started using NX 3 months ago. ;)

RE: Add condition to Assembly Constaints?

I contacted GTAC last month with the same concern.

My IR was converted to an ER (2094785), so I don't hold out much hope for a resolution.
