Flow in branched pipes
Flow in branched pipes
(OP)
Consider there is a main vertical pipe which is split in to two branches. The first branch is horizontal and second one is vertical. ( the shape of "t" ). water is passed from top. My question is, can I get same flow rate at both branches if the diameter of both branch can be varied? Even if the diameters are varied, the datum height factor still influences the flow rate right?

However, in the real world, the flows tend to not be equal. In the real world there may be slight differences in fabrication and construction which may affect the flow rates.
If it important to have the flows be exactly the same, it would be preferable to use control element such as a flow control valves or weirs to positively control the flow.
