NX 7.5 Motion - Location of Contact through simulation

NX 7.5 Motion - Location of Contact through simulation

NX 7.5 Motion - Location of Contact through simulation

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking to automate some of my information gathering through motion simulation. I have the simulation moving and collecting measured points, so I can export the data.

I am driving the motion simulation of through articulation of the pivoting link mentioned below.

I have 2 links sliding against each other with a "Curve on Curve" constraint. Due to one item being fixed and the other pivoting the contact point slides through the motion of the model. This point of contact currently doesn't have a good contact point constrained to follow through motion.

Is there a way to use a marker or smart point to achieve this?

It can be done in a sketch by constraining a point to both curves and measuring it.

Thanks in advance.

RE: NX 7.5 Motion - Location of Contact through simulation

I do not understand why/what is the problem per your description.
but, if you use curve on curve, these curves needs to be in contact "the full simulation".
If you instead use 3D contact, the contact can occur during the simulation and also separate during simulation. ( neither do you need to know where the contact will occur, you only select the links.)

Does this help ?

Regards,
Tomas

I have it constrained with 2D contact as I am using sketches for this motion sim. (2D only)

The links are in contact throughout the simulation, but I want to be able to measure the location of the contact location throughout the range of the motion sim. The arc moves around the circle, the contact point moves around the circle. I want to be able to measure that contact point through the range of motion.

Is this possible?
