moisture problem
moisture problem
(OP)
We used a SS316L pressure casing for an underwater measurements which consists of lithium metal batteries and data acquisition system. The system retrieved after one year of data collection.Brownish colour water was found at the bottom of the casing when it was opened.we did not carried out any vacuum or purging. The amount water found out may be 1liter. what could be the reason for the water entering to the casing. No leakage found out from the flange or sealing or any other side.

RE: moisture problem
Was there any temperature cycling?
Part of this is surely condensation 80F at 100%RH air has 22gr/kg of dry air.
But most of it must be from leaks. They are probably so small that only vapor was leaking in, but a year is a long time.

RE: moisture problem
Temperature cylce was + 7 degree celcius to -1degree
The system depth was around 30m
