FREE Structural Shapes Catalog

FREE Structural Shapes Catalog

(OP)
This technique is meant to show you an example of a CATIA structural shapes catalog. The catalog presented in this example contains 5,248 standard structural shapes (Inch & Metric).
The “Top Level” catalog is divided into two sub-catalogs one is called “Structural Shapes (Linked) Catalog” and other is “Structural Shapes (Not Linked) Catalog”. Each catalog contains the exact same profiles. Where they differ is how they are used in CATIA V5 presented below is a short definition of each catalog.

A. Structural Shapes (Linked) Catalog:
Used in the context of a CATPart and applies a “Copy”, “Paste Special”, “As Result with Link” profile to the CATPart. The profile will always be linked back to the master part (unless manually isolated). What this means is changes to the master part profile will change all the profiles that are linked to it.

B. Structural Shapes (Not Linked) Catalog:
Used in the context of a CATProduct and applies a new CATPart to the CATProduct. There is no link between the new part created and the master part.
You choose which style best suits your needs.

A thirty two page step by step instruction manual is provided. You can download it all free from my website at www.solengsol.com. All parts and catalogs were created using CATIAV5 2014.

I hope you enjoy this technique as much as I did creating it. Question, comments, and suggestions are always welcomed.

Thank You
John B Cearns
