NX10 - Apply Image or Decal to Cylindrical Surface

NX10 - Apply Image or Decal to Cylindrical Surface

NX10 - Apply Image or Decal to Cylindrical Surface

(OP)
When I use the View->Visualization->Decal command to show a "label" on a cylindrical surface the image appears mirrored about the axis of the cylinder instead of wrapping correctly. I have attached an example.

What is causing this, and how do I prevent it?

Also - is there yet any better way (in NX10) to show an image wrapped onto a surface? I find the decal command doesn't make it easy to position the decal (unlike Insert->Datum/Point->Raster Image which I can drag around, but only works with planar placement).

Thanks,
Jeff

So I guess no one here uses NX for Studio Rendering?

:(

RE: NX10 - Apply Image or Decal to Cylindrical Surface

I need to answer this quickly (because I am busy)
but do a search in here for the topic, it has been brought up before.
I will come back here when I have more time to see how you are doing.

Thanks for the push jerry, I managed to come across the post about "Texture Space" for studio materials.

Unfortunately, if you use that method then the material is mapped to the faces of the body and the image is repeated for each face that makes up the body.

I somewhat simplified my problem above hoping the solution would be simple, but the decal I have has to wrap around the full body (which contains multiple faces - not all cylindrical). Since I am using a decal (and not a material with a decal pattern) I cannot see a way to get this decal to be continuous across the faces and map to the correct texture space.

Perhaps there is still something I am missing?

Jeff
