Spring Stiffness of Concrete

Spring Stiffness of Concrete

Spring Stiffness of Concrete

(OP)
Hi All,

I am performing a FEM analysis using RISA 3D for the bearing of a plate on a concrete wall. In order to do this I need to figure out what kind of stiffness modulus [units: kip/in^3] to apply to my spring. How would I go about calculating this based on my concrete strength fc'?

Thanks

RE: Spring Stiffness of Concrete

The elastic modulus of concrete, Ec is a function of f'c. If you can define the effective bearing area of wall supporting the base plate at various heights, you could calculate stiffness modulus k, but it would be somewhat approximate.

If you are going to that much trouble, you should calculate the magnitude of foundation settlement too.
