Bolt Grade Mark

Bolt Grade Mark

(OP)
Ran into a bolt that was used on a platform I've been asked to analyze. Attached is a picture of the head of the bolt. Can any of you bolt experts confirm if this is an SAE J429 Gr8 bolt? The standard I have shows the grade 8's have six lines around the perimeter but doesn't have the dots in between the lines.

RE: Bolt Grade Mark

They appear to be Grade 8. I've never seen marking between the 6 bars except for manufacturer identification and not 'dots'. Could this be the case. Do they work as Grade 8? Can you test a couple of them? If Grade 8, then they are likely designed for some serious loading. I've checked my resources for European and Aircraft fasteners and no luck.
