Import from pro e
Import from pro e
(OP)
Hi,
Has anyone has any experience with the import pro e feature ?
We are spending a fair amount of time repairing imported step file geometry from suppliers and wondered if this direct pro e file import is worth investigating.
Unfortunately it does require a extra license to use the feature.

Thanks
Ian

RE: Import from pro e
My company is using the Import from Pro/E option for about two years. In most cases it delivers a correct geometry with minimum healing/repairment needed. We usually importing solids from Pro/E, such as spur gears, chucks, machine parts etc, we are not importing any surfaces. I think that the quality of output geometry depends on it type, but unfortunately i don't know exactly the algorithm that NX uses for the translation.

RE: Import from pro e
The pro e data we import is highly styled consumer type product designs, so they do contain some complex surfacing.
The results we get from some step file imports are often very poor, i'm sure the geometry is fine in pro e but falls apart when imported into NX.
It's mainly surface edge boundaries that do not knit & missing surfaces, we do repair the data but it does take time.
I guess we will need to get a trial license or send some files off to really know if its worth it.
Any idea of a ball park price for the license ?
Thanks
Ian
