FFS-1 = API 579 latest edition (2016)
FFS-1 = API 579 latest edition (2016)
(OP)
I understood that a new edition (June 2016) has been issued ?
What are the latest changes ? topics ?
(e.g. compared to the previous edition ).
Are they additions ? and or changes or amendments ? or even some re-writing
of course the introduction in the new edition gives a very quick presentation ....but if one wants to follow the whole stuff, then one has to go go thru more than 1000 pages.... The bottom line is there is some lack of overview (my impression )
is there a site or a links indicating that (e.g. changes, additions, etc)
-------------
What about the part Example ( of API 579 , which is more than another 1000 pages) ? have this also been re-issued in line with the 2016 edition .or not ? or is it pending ?
thanks to all

RE: FFS-1 = API 579 latest edition (2016)
A few changes I am aware of:
1. Annexes have been moved from the end of the document to the Part to which they are relevant. Annexes that apply to many parts are moved to Part 2 (such as thickness equations, stress analysis methods, material properties, etc.)
2. Technical basis and validation has been added as an Annex to each part.
3. Part 14 has been added which deals with fatigue failure.
4. Added Type B Class 1 and Class 2 components to Part 4.
5. Weld residual stress distributions have been completely reformulated.
6. New material constants to use in creep assessments.
7. Acceptance criteria has been changed for Part 4; you no longer compare minimum measured thickness to calculated tmin times RSF.
As far as the example problems manual, it will be updated at some point. I am sure it was more important to the people involved to get the Code out first.
