400Kv Equipment
400Kv Equipment
(OP)
Does a standard for 400Kv nominal class equipment exist in North America? If I use 400Kv I must either use IEC equipment or 500Kv IEEE/ANSI equipment?
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

Note that, due to the recent harmonization of IEC & ANSI/IEEE Standards for High-voltage Circuit-breakers, most EHV circuit breakers can be nowadays installed both in IEEE and IEC market areas.
As a consequence most producers have not developed a 420 kV class dead tank circuit breaker, as it should have a marginal market share.
However, ABB has recently launched a 420 kV class hybrid switchgear, which in its most simple declination consists in a dead tank circuit breaker. We have installed some of these in a similar fashion to dead tank circuit breakers.
