Fasteners to Round Top Chord of OWSJ?

Fasteners to Round Top Chord of OWSJ?

Fasteners to Round Top Chord of OWSJ?

(OP)
I have an existing flat rubber roof.

We will reroof over the top of existing with metal deck and CFS purlins, studs and base track with strap and cross-bracing at uniform spacing, E.W. throughout. The base track "was" intended to be anchored, with TEK5 screws, through the rubber membrane, rigid insulation and metal deck, to the top chord of OWSJ (Open Web Steel Joists).

HOWEVER, with round top chord joists, can I please have (alternate) suggestions on how to accomplish this?

(Please forgive the position of photos. They were not taken with this thread in mind)

Thank you always!

RE: Fasteners to Round Top Chord of OWSJ?

How about using 1/4" thru bolts with a plate washer under the round top chords?

jike, that was our first reasonable thought. But, the labor increases dramatically. BUT, if that is the only solution, we'll have to do it.

RE: Fasteners to Round Top Chord of OWSJ?

Another idea is to offset the track from the top chord enough that you can still use the Tek screws thru the deck.

jike, thank you for your efforts.

If you are referring to attaching to the steel deck alone, please refer to my other thread, “Is a TEK5 In 22 or 24 Gage Reasonable / Possible?” and please reply there. If not, then, perhaps i am misunderstanding what you are talking about.
