SAP2000V18.0.1 : FRICTION PENDULUM ISOLATOR

SAP2000V18.0.1 : FRICTION PENDULUM ISOLATOR

Hi, Im trying to model a simple isolated structure in sap2000v18 with FPS isolaters. And i want get responses throw non linear TH analysis. I have problem with specifying the stiffness and damping coefficient properties of the direction U1. How can i calculate this parameters ?
I already have this parameters:
Initial stiffness
Friction coefficient,slow
Friction coefficient,fast
rate parameters
net pendulum radius

RE: SAP2000V18.0.1 : FRICTION PENDULUM ISOLATOR

Damping and design displacement are interrelated.
Assuming a design displacement, you can calculate damping using this formula:
B = (2/pi)(f/(f+D/R))
Where f = friction coefficient, D =design displacement, R = radius of sliding surface

Stiffness of the isolator is dependent on the weight(W) of the structure. It can be calculated via this formula:
k = W/R + (f×W)/D

The Seismic Design Handbook by Farzad Naeim has examples on this.
Hope this helps.
