vert. pipe riser anchor loads

vert. pipe riser anchor loads

(OP)
hello ,

regarding the distribution of water and pipe weight in the attached vert. riser arrangement.

Will the water load be distributed equally between the two anchors due to the 4.5 mtr offset.

or

is anchor 1 supporting the complete weight of the water and half the dry pipe ....with anchor 2 supporting half the dry weight located above.

appreciate any help/direction...

RE: vert. pipe riser anchor loads

On the center of gravity of each of the 4 pipe segments locate downward vector equal to weight of each segment respectively. Represent anchor forces as vertical vectors each. Write moment equation about one anchor with the vertical force at the other anchor unknown and the complete moment equation equal to zero. Exclude the pump, connect with flex connection so it will not carry any piping load. Solve for the value of the anchor force. Similarly take moments about this anchor to solve for the other anchor force.
Make sure you have enough flexibility in the short horizontal leg to absorb the expansion of the long leg otherwise you have to consider expansion forces in the anchor loads.
