Determination of flow rate

Determination of flow rate

Determination of flow rate

(OP)
Good morning all,

I'm still struggling with a problem involving compressible flow. I've got to the point where I now understand more of what's going on but I've got myself in knots over how to proceed.

Basically I want to find the flow rate in the section 2-3 but its important that I understand the underpinning physics behind it.

The second part of this will be what happens to flow rate at 2-3 if I specify that P1=6 bar and P4=5bar.

If it makes a difference you can call all pipe sections 1m in length.

Please see attachment for details.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

RE: Determination of flow rate

Have you researched and studied "converging-diverging nozzle" and "venturi" and "de Laval nozzle"? They are covered in about every fluid flow textbook I have seen. Some books cover these in detail, like Shapiro's The Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Compressible Fluid Flow Volumes 1 and 2. They are also covered in detail all over the internet, even at NASA's websites.

Good luck,
Latexman

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.
