Anyone using Limcon for welded HSS connections?

Anyone using Limcon for welded HSS connections?

(OP)
Anybody out there use Limcon to check welded HSS connections using AISC 360-10? I did a test case and I realized that for most of the checks it is using "Tubular Design Guide 25" (and Australian publication) instead of AISC even though I have it set to use AISC for code checking. What the . . .? It caught my eye because the effective weld length it computes is about 40% higher than the number I computed by hand using AISC Chapter K. While it seems to me that AISC's method is possibly overly conservative (then again I haven't done test, so what do I know) this just seems bogus to me to purport to be checking to one code then use something else.

RE: Anyone using Limcon for welded HSS connections?

Yes, in some of the tube to tube connections LIMCON uses methods from the Australian Tubular Design Guide 25. When the tubular connections are added into RAM Connection we will use the AISC methods throughout. This is part of the long term plan to merge LIMCON and Ram Connection.
