Fire wall requirement

Fire wall requirement

Fire wall requirement

(OP)
Hi,

In my current Project, I am building a new food process tower (56' high) adjacent to existing structure on two side ( one side 30 ft and other side 35 ft high). The occupancy category is F-1 Based on Sec 302 from IBC.
Maximum Occupancy in the building is 3 people ( As it is food process).

As I am putting my new Non Load Bearing wall( Siding with girts) very close to adjacent existing structure, do i have to make these two wall as fire wall ?

Based on Table 602 from IBC 2012, 2 hour fire resisting rating will be required for walls separated by a distance of 5ft.

As occupancy is 3 max, i dont want to put firewall. How do i get away ? is there any provision in any code ?

Please help.

RE: Fire wall requirement

So what are the other occupancy groups you are attaching to?

I take all of these buildings are on the same property

RE: Fire wall requirement

What's the existing fire area and the new area with the tower?
Is the building sprinklered in acccordance with NFPA 13?
What's the separation distance of the building from the property lines or public ways (whichever is closer)?
Which edition of the IBC?
What's the IBC construction classification of the building? The tower?
Do you have a schematic floor plan?

see the attached JPG pic. It shows the existing CMU wall on south side and Enclosure wall on West side.

picture shows the new and existing are very close.

the new enclosure will be provided with sprinkler system. I have NFPA 12. and IBC 2012.

Construction Classification IIA

See attachment for floor plan.

RE: Fire wall requirement

I need the sum fire area of the building that your attaching this to. Also, is the existing pre-engineered building connected to the existing CMU building? Additionally, what is the separation distance between the building and the closes property line or public way?
