Optional type of flange 8a (ASME code)

Optional type of flange 8a (ASME code)

RE: Optional type of flange 8a (ASME code)

(OP)
Is this a silly question?

As per ASME code, that flange can be calculated as integral or loose, but, in my opinion, the code is not 100% clear about what are the h and g1 dimensions to be considered.

If I look to sketch 7 it seems to me that I have to consider only dimensions of weld fillet, but, if that's the case, it doesn't make sense to use a hubbed flange.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

You are using the old edition.

RE: Optional type of flange 8a (ASME code)

r6155 is correct. See Note (6) in Figure 2-4 in the 2015 Edition - will be on page 376. This should answer your question.
