Residential kitchen hood exhaust duct insulation requirements

Residential kitchen hood exhaust duct insulation requirements

Residential kitchen hood exhaust duct insulation requirements

(OP)
Hello,

I am designing a range hood exhaust system to be installed in a multi unit residential apartment building. The hood model is a Broan QSE1. The duct is to be run vertically into the ceiling, then elbow and run approximately 20ft horizontally until it discharges outside. The building is new and will be constructed from wood. What are the insulation/fire wrap code requirements for this type of exhaust system? I can't seem to find any requirements on the manufacturer's cut sheet. Thanks!

RE: Residential kitchen hood exhaust duct insulation requirements

That's because such requirements are in your governing Mechanical Code. You need to be familiar with your building codes if you are going to be designing or installing HVAC systems. If you are not familiar with the codes or don't want to learn what's in them, you need to hire a professional.
