METAL

METAL

(OP)
HOW CAN I CREATE A MATERIAL SIMILAR TO METALĀ”?

RE: METAL

There should be a metallic material in your library.

RE: METAL

Dude,
I don't know about you but we have only the standard materials that come with AutoCAD. And the only TGA file that's metal is "imetal.tga", which sucks.
But I wonder if just applying a grey tone to the object would suffice. Add some direct light and the object should render like some shiny metal.
(Unless you have a lot complex things happening in rendering which would neutralize the effect????) Hmmm....
Your only option then would be to surf the NET for metal materials or scan it yourself.

Good Luck
Rich ;)

RE: METAL

Dear enque,
To create a metal material following steps will lead you:
1. Enter the "RMAT" command
2. In the "Materials" dialog box select the "Standard" option from list (at right) and click on "New..." button
3. In the "New Standard Material" dialog box enter a name for the new material.
4. Activate the "Color/Pattern" option and select a color (uncheck the "By ACI" option if required). You can define a pattern as bump map using the "Find File..." to read the pattern from a graphic file
5. Activate the "Reflection" option and set it to a high Value near 1
6. Activate the "Roughness" option and set it to a low value near 0
7. Click OK
8. Attach the new material to an object
9. Click OK
10. Enter the RENDER command and render the model using the "Photo Real" or "Photo Raytrace" method.
