I am trying to learn how to use NX atributes and there are some thing I can't configure as I want:
First, when I edit a part attribute from an assembly environment, I can apply it to component, instance or part. By default it is set to apply to component and I think this can lead to mistakes if I always want to write it in the part file. How can I set "apply to part" by default?
Second, I have created attribute templates in order to select them from a list. I created a catalog so I have the list updated and I can apply to any part I open. But if I close NX and then open it again, the catalog is not available so I have to import it any time I open NX. Is any way of have the catalog ready always?
Thank you.

I believe you'll get what you're after if you go to Customer Defaults, then to Gateway, and then the User Attributes section under that. In the right side of the screen, you'll then see an area with the heading "Template Catalog" where you can set both a Windows and Unix path to a template catalog file. Enter the path to your template catalog here and I think you'll get what you're after.

RE: ATTRIBUTES
If you add an attribute to the partfile it is a "part attribute", when the contents of that partfile shows up in an assembly, the object-s from the partfile has become a "component", the "part attribute" has become Object attributes on the Component. What you see on the screen in the assembly are components. Therefore "component" is the logically default because that is what you see.
Set your attributes on the piece part and it's all as you expect.
Regarding the attribute template, Have you set the customer defaults for this ?
Customer defaults - Gateway - User Attributes
