Hi everyone, my name is Sergio, I'm from venezuela, and I am working with a sprinkler fire fighting system and I am using the Area/density method. I have some problems, and maybe the community could helpme:

I am following a "guide" that I found on the internet, however, some of the assumption of some values confuses me.

The Plan is on page Nª 178, when I use the solving table on page Nª 190 I realize that, there are some changes for K-factor. I understand that you calculate a K for a branch and use it for the other branches (while they area similar to the original, same numbers of sprinklers correctme if im wrong). However, how do i determine the values of K, for a branch with 1, or 2 sprinklers only? in that example those values are K=5.28 (for one sprinkler at #4 and 10.07 for third branch with only 2 sprinklers #9 and #10).

The last thing, if i want to add specifically a hose with a capacity of 100gpm to the main line of a sprinklers system like the example, i should just add the 100gpm to the 214gpm calculated in the example and use a pipe for 314gpm and calculate the pump for that capacity, etc.??

If you know how to calculate the K for the 1st branch, it is the same method for other branches. When 2 branches are exactly the same (length, sizes, fittings, sprinklers, etc), then the K for the two branches are the same. Note that you need to take care of flow & pressure balancing at hydraulic junctions.
