For a Reinforced normal weight concrete Shear Wall say 12' thick, 16' long, 10' high. The wall has a lateral force at top of wall of 120k. The Wall is to connected to the foundation with dowels. What is the accepted way to design the connection (The dowels) for combined uplift and shear friction ? Any references would be appreciated.

Would this be correct?

DL M = 8(24) = 192k for nor. wt. conc.
Mu = 10(120) = 1200 k' (assume seismic load)
Mu ot = 1200 - 192 = 1008k'
Assume d=14.5, then Pu = + or- (1008/14.5)=+or- 69.5k
Ten. As req. = 69.5/.85x60 =1.36 in^

Shear friction Avf= 120/0.85x60x0.6 = 3.92in^2

total As req'd = 1.36 + 3.92 = 5.28 in^2 for the connection
 Provide say 5.28/0.79 = 7 # 8 bars developed each side of the joint?

Any suggestions ?

  Check on NOtes on ACI 318 by PCA, Example 23.5.  

  For Tu, I think you should use 0.8*Length of Wall.  Also, you should be designing for flexure for the wall, and then develop the steel into the FD.
 
  I am not sure you should use 0.85 for your tension steel.  I think you should be using 0.9*60 for tensile yielding.

  Also, you should design for horizontal and vertical shear reinforcement according to ACI Chapter 11
