thread507-156746: Column K Factor - Different per floor, self-check
Please refer to all questions and answers with respect to K factor. Do you know your elastic critical load at each floor? This will help you in sizing the columns and check the load capacity with effective length you want to use. Also note that effective length of L has more load capacity than 2L.This will help you know the type of fixity at the ends.So don't treat k factor in isolation. Infact AISCE/LFRD recommend using story based length for your effective length in buildings.
