Hello all!
I’m curious on how to calculate the pressure amplitude in reciprocating compressor piping.
I just want to perform a very fundamental calculation to have a control of the parameters I’m dealing with.
I have a software to perform this type of acoustic analysis, I have all the necessary manuals to follow.
In a nutshell I have the idea of how the software works using Fourier discretization. I just to do a very basic manual calculation of how pressure amplitude is calculated in recips. It’s basically dependent on
Sound speed, density, Amplitude and rpm. I have read that the pressure amplitude is also dependent on Intensity (power/area) . How can I represent the intensity (power/area) of recips as my sound energy source. I have seen different properties inputted in recips as boundary condition but what is the specific formula for intensity of recips.

Nway, sorry if I cause a lot confusion. I’m a stress engineer who is fanatic in exploring other areas relating to my job. I know this is an acoustic consultant scope but for me just want to have a knowledge so I know how to deal with this type of design in the future.

This is a specialist field of work usually passed on by subcontract to the South Western Research Institute in Texas for critical tasks of this sort for recip pumps and compressors to set up pulsation dampers and gas surge bottles etc - one option would be to see if you can get some guidance from them.
