STEP file problems

STEP file problems

STEP file problems

(OP)
Hi!
I'm trying to open a STEP file I received from a customer.
Unfortunately when I open it it looks more like something from a Saw movie.
Looks like the midpoints of all round surfaces have been displaced, creating a pointed spear (some are over 20 meters long)

Example part:

It works fine in a step file viewer (WorkXPlore)
Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Best regards
David L

RE: STEP file problems

Bet it came from Catia. Haven't imported one of those in years but they always gave trouble. You could try importing into saladworks, seems to like Caria files better than Pro/E.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

The STEP file header says:
/* preprocessor_version */ 'ST-DEVELOPER v15.6',
/* originating_system */ 'Autodesk Inventor 2015',

Must be one of those programs that cause problems with Creo...
Doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. I asked for a model in IGS format instead and that appears to be working :)

RE: STEP file problems

I always ask for IGS and STP files for this very reason.

RE: STEP file problems

Had recently the same problem, sended data in a step. file to our supplier, they added and changed some things in inventor with it and I received a step. file back.
Everywhere those spears, took a bit more time but removed all of them. Goes quick enough when you get the hang of it.
