B.O.M. Listing

B.O.M. Listing

B.O.M. Listing

(OP)
Good day all.
I'm having a bit of trouble with the BOM. To make it very simple I have 30 ejector pins that are all identical. But instead of getting 1 cataloged item with a quantity of 30 I'm getting 30 lines with a quantity of 1. What am I missing here? Any help is appreciated.

RE: B.O.M. Listing

Have you tried to change your callout in your attributes or sequence in teamcenter to have the same number.

RE: B.O.M. Listing

(OP)
As for the 'callout in my attributes' I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Are you talking the attributes of each part? Or the callout in the BOM. We don't run Team Center.

RE: B.O.M. Listing

I am thinking about the attributes in the component. In your assembly navigator right click on one of the pins and go to properties. Go to the attributes tab. You should see the attribute called callout. Change this to what ever number you like and make sure they all have the same number. Then the bom in your drawing should show the 30 parts under your qty. Or you can just remove this Item # line in your drawing's bom and I think the parts list will update with a quantity of 30. But you will not have an "item #"

RE: B.O.M. Listing

Have a look at which column is your key field. The key field determines the criteria to work out quantities. Hard to explain but we made a video a while back that covers parts lists and talks about key fields: https://vimeopro.com/phoenxplm/tips-and-tricks/vid...

RE: B.O.M. Listing

Yeah I understand completely the individual attributes in parts and how they affect how the parts list appears. But my problem was definitely the Key fields. I didn't' check one of the fields because I had hidden that column and forgot about it. Once I dragged the column back out and check the key field it resolved the problem. Thanks PhoeNX! That definitely did fix the quantity issue. But NOW on a handful of my parts (and my major steels only) I'm getting a [...] in the 'Catalog' column instead of the sizes listed in the Catalog attribute on those components. And it's just a few of them... the rest are cataloging fine now.

RE: B.O.M. Listing

Do those parts have a 'Catalog' attribute applied with a valid value? If so, is the parts list column wide enough to display the value?

RE: B.O.M. Listing

Yes on both accounts. I've gone back and removed that attribute and re-entered it on a couple of the components and then widened the column out to a ridiculous width and still no change. In fact there are several cataloged components whose attribute are much longer than these. stumped... Funny thing is before I adjusted the key fields these components were cataloging fine. All of the ones that are cataloging this way have a quantity of 1. NOT that ALL quantities of 1 are doing it.. just a handful of them...
It IS getting the description, the material and supplier attribute from ALL of the troublesome components... just not the catalog... hmmmm

RE: B.O.M. Listing

(OP)
OK... second and final issue resolved. I turned off the Key field in one of my columns and then reapplied it to the column and all the attributes came thru. Strange I've never experienced that one before! Thanks for ALL the suggestions! Much appreciated.

RE: B.O.M. Listing

If you are using the moldwizard
the attribute for size is "MW_STOCK_SIZE"
not "catalog" or maybe I have misunderstood you problem.
