Hi all,
Is there any option in COMPRESS 2016 to get seismic and wind reactions in "new (uncorroded)" condition. The software gives reactions in corroded condition of vessel

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Is the base shear greater for a new vessel due to it's increased weight? Is the weight of vessel contents included in these calculations? I theorize that for a lot of vessels, but by no means all, the difference in loaded weight between corroded and uncorroded states is negligible.

As I said, I am not familiar w/ Compress so, a question for you: Is Compress calculating weights in corroded condition only? If so, of what possible interest is that?

Sntman: COMPRESS calculates weights in both corroded and uncorroded conditions but the seismic base shear in only corroded state which comes out to be less as compared to that in uncorroded state. What if the civil designs it's foundation based on this base shear while the base shear for a new vessel is more than this and is not being accounted for

Software is just software. The engineer must know what it does and does not do.
