CATIA GSD - CORNER

CATIA GSD - CORNER

RE: CATIA GSD - CORNER

You could use the "3D CORNER" option, trim both supports and use a large enough radius to fit. But I prefer to use a CONNECT curve instead of a corner, since it's easier and tends to aways work when I modify the line or helix.

Hi jackk,

Thanks for your fast reply.
I took into consideration using "Connect", but I wanted to:
1) Use a parametrically feature
2) Learn to use the Corner as well. I couldn't get a Corner, I had problem in getting the "Support" (plane).........

RE: CATIA GSD - CORNER

Jackk is right. The Connect tool would be my preference as there are fewer options and less chance of it breaking when you modify geometry. However, if the radius is critical then it really isn't an option.
To get the Corner tool to work, you will need to Extrapolate the line (or just make it longer to begin with) and pick the 3D Corner option. The problem is that depending on how long the line is there are multiple solutions to the corner. If you ever change the geometry it might break.

Thanks, Wdnick! 2thumbsup

RE: CATIA GSD - CORNER

CAD2015: If the lines are directly inline with the endpoints of the helix, you could add a plane passing through the line and the endpoint and use this line as the support. You also have to use a radius that is exactly the perpendicular distance from the line and endpoint.

Fernando, How did you get the Extrapol geometry?.....
You know....I am kind of beginner in GSD.........

RE: CATIA GSD - CORNER

the online doc explain it all...

select the edge/point to start from, then the surface/curve to extrapolate, then the mode tangency or curvature... you wasted the time waiting for the answer as it's on the online doc.
