calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

(OP)
Hi Freinds,

Anybody can let me know how to calculate quantity of Nitrogen required to fill in 1 KM length pipe of 16inch size with pressure of 2barg

RE: calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

At that pressure you also need to decide are you first purging the line to remove the air or just making the pressure of the air plus nitrogen 3bara??

Work in bara. You will need 3 times the volume of the pipe to achieve 3 bara. If you start with one bara in the pipe then you'll need less nitrogen.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

RE: calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

That should one major question isn't? how much Oxygen are you allowed to have in the pipeline. Right now the pipeline has about 20% oxygen and 80% nitrogen and other minute percentages of other gases, so what is the acceptable level of oxygen can be allowed at 2 barg? I don't think that in one (1) KM pipeline you can have 100% nitrogen in a reasonable time.

RE: calculation of Quantity of Nitrogen required

No doubt this line is being put out of commission so they'll have to dynamic purge for some time.
