Crotch Factor for tee

Crotch Factor for tee

(OP)
Dear all,

It is mentioned in the ASME 16.9 that different tees from different manufacturer can have different dimensions. I am trying to get a standard value or crotch Factor (CF=T_Crotch/T_Nominal). VES tool is taking 1.25 crotch factor on default. I have seen on few manufacturer website crotch factor is 1.3.

Does any one of you have information about the min. crotch requirement.

Regards

RE: Crotch Factor for tee

The standard for but weld fittings does not have dimensions required apart from lengths and end preps. The supplier has to design the fitting then carry out testing to show that the fitting is stronger than the pipe it is welded to. How thick they make the fitting is up to them.

HI Kevin

Thanks for your reply but in that case what would be the rejection criteria for the tee fittings?

Regards,
