The Windows XP (Home Edition) doesn't allow the installation of Autocad 2000i. I search for help in my problem (tips...)

RE: Installation of Autocad 2000i in Windows XP (Home)

There are several difficulties when installing AutoCAD on XP.
Read the previous discussion on the subject in this forum.
You can also look on the Autodesk website www.autodesk.com where they have a topic dealing with this subject.

RE: Installation of Autocad 2000i in Windows XP (Home)

Hi GeoGra and RiBeneke,

I read the other thread about incompatability problems running AutoCAD 2000 on Windows XP Home, and it seems that some have problems, and some are doing just fine. I wonder why this is so?  Has Autodesk manage to resolve the incompatability issues yet?

As for me, I am running my AutoCAD 2000 on Windows XP Home at home, and Windows 98 at the office, and I don't seem to have any incomptability problems as yet (touch wood).  I am still a newbie, though.

What gives??

RE: Installation of Autocad 2000i in Windows XP (Home)

Hello all from Canada:
I recently upgraded computer and OS to XP, am using Acad 2000 in a Windows XP OS, I installed as though Acad was made for XP, have not made any changes as far as compatibility and its working great. Also I've heard problems with running Norton 2003 and Acad having conflicts, again I am using both with no trouble.

RE: Installation of Autocad 2000i in Windows XP (Home)

It appears that no work has been done by either party to make XP Home and Autocad 2000 fully compatible. Autocad have basically stopped supporting upgrades to 2000 to improve XP compatibility.

So on advice I upgraded to XP Professional and have not had any problems between Autocad and XP since.
