What is the cause for generating a large spark during the projection welding of round tube to rectangular plate, and how to solve this problem?

Can you provide a sketch of the parts that shows how they are oriented prior to welding? Is this an annular projection weld? Assuming that the tube end face is welded to the flat plate, what is the exact end condition of the tube? All of these details are necessary before making any comments about sparking, etc.
