Dual plate check valve - Standard for instalation

Dual plate check valve - Standard for instalation

Dual plate check valve - Standard for instalation

(OP)
Hello,
It is clear the Dual plate check valve is mounted to the horizontal piping with the pin in vertical position. Is this requirement listed within any Standard?
Thank you for your answer.

RE: Dual plate check valve - Standard for instalation

ZdenekB,
You asked:
"Is this requirement listed within any Standard?"

No, not that I know of. However, it should be common sense.
If the valve is installed with the pin in the horizontal position then the half plate on top may not close properly on no flow.

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

RE: Dual plate check valve - Standard for instalation

AWWA C518 has a non-mandatory appendix that addresses installation. In part, it states "In horizontal pipe applications, the valve pins must be installed vertically."
