Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

(OP)
What does 'F' mean. I have a settings sheet for a DPU ABB relay. The 50P setting is shown to be 'F'. Does that mean it's OFF.

RE: Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

what is the model? Is it DPU2000?

The settings sheet doesn't specify, but let's say it is.

RE: Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

For DPU2000, the 50P function consists of 2 settings:
Pickup - in multiples of 51P setting
Curve - Standard=Instantaneous, Inverse Instantaneous with a time dial, etc, etc. See table 2, page 10.

See page 10

Maybe the F is really an I for Instantaneous? No idea.

Take a look here:
Function 50 and 50P
thread238-268196: Function 50 and 50P

Quote (thread238-268196: Function 50 and 50P)

Before there were multifunction numerical relays, there would be a 50 relays for phase protection and a seperate 50 for zero sequence protection 50N. With the newer relays there needs to be a way of differentiating between the different available protective devises included within the one packaged relay. 50P, 50N, 50R, 67P, 67N..

Quote (thread238-268196: Function 50 and 50P)

The relay contains different functions, or modules, such as 50/51P for positive sequence, 50/51G for zero sequence (residual, ground), and 50/51Q for negative sequence currents.

RE: Old ABB DPU relay - 50 pickup set to 'F'

I'm reasonably sure that setting it to 'F' is setting it to "ofF". 0 and O are too easily confused, F is definitely not a number.
