NX9 - Custom Ribbon files

NX9 - Custom Ribbon files

(OP)
In the past, I have done a lot of creating toolbars and buttons using both macros and journals. In NX9 as you know, it is more about ribbons rather than toolbars. NX9 will still allow us to load our old toolbars but I guess in an upcoming version, we will no longer be able to do things like that.

I have looked at a lot of sites that talked about .rbt files and a couple mentioned something about .mtx files. For some reason I keep feeling lost when I try to understand it. Can someone please break it down to real simple instructions how the basics of it works?

The old way was simply that the TBR file was the master file. Within it, you listed the macros/journals, bitmap image, and had a button and label name. It was only slightly more intricate to add a drop down to the buttons. How does this work? What is the heirarchy of the MTX, MEN, RBT and TBR files? How do they work together?

Once I understand the basic of it, I think the websites explaining them will make more sense to me. I hope. I dont know why this is so difficult for me but for some reason I cant seem to grasp the generality of how it works.
