requirements for internal heating/cooling coils
requirements for internal heating/cooling coils
(OP)
Hello everyone,
I would like to verify whether or not any design rules apply to internal heating coils in ASME VIII division 1 or division 2.
I read that they are exempt from minimum wall thickness and generally just require good engineering judgement (e.g. for thermal stress, flowrate, diameters etc.) but apart from stress calculations are there any things in the code that still pertain that I missed?
Cheers,
Alex

RE: requirements for internal heating/cooling coils
I have a question and I would be very happy if you give me an answer.
My company requested a new steam coil for our three phase separator. However, the new steam coil differs from the original in that the new steam coil flanges are all of the raced face type flanges, whereas the original steam coil had RJ flange joints,, both of the steam coils flanges are of class 150 and 2.5'' diameter. are raced face flanges work well in these conditions?.... operating temp. : 92 C, operating Press. : 100 psi.Is it OK to use the new steam coil? .... and if yes, what is the best gasket type to use? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
