I'm on a roll today. Anyone have a good reference that I can point to discouraging the column slab pour in go because of plastic settlement cracking?

RE: Slab Column Plastic Cracks

So says ACI 224.1. And, I guess ACI 309.2. Similar recommendations in this Aussie doc: Link.

Hokie66 has strong feelings on this. Hopefully he swings by.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Good stuff, thanks.

RE: Slab Column Plastic Cracks

"Subsidence cracking" is a new one on me, but it is the same thing as plastic settlement cracking. The blurb is correct, revibration can avoid this problem.
